Introduction About Me: Riley Masters

My name is Riley Masters. I am currently a sophomore that is dual enrolled at Oregon State University and Linn Benton Community College with plans to earn a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. I am considering expanding my degree and working towards my marketing or management degree.

I am taking this marketing course because it is a credit requirement for my Bachelors in Business Administration and I am interested in possibly pursuing a double degree in Marketing as well. I am also taking this course because I am hoping it will help give me a clear understanding whether marketing is a degree and profession I am interested in pursuing.

I am really excited to learn about the process of marketing as well as being able to open my eyes to strategies and new approaches not just to marketing but business and life in general.
Outside of college, I really enjoy the outdoors. One of my passions is going hiking with my dog and backpacking with my friends that come here over the summer. I have also spent time hiking into the high mountain lakes around my hometown and camping for several days with friends. I enjoy spending time with good friends and family, and we usually find ourselves discussing and talking about things that we enjoy and are passionate and curious about. Some of the things I often find myself discussing are agriculture, the outdoors, conservation organizations and sustainability.

One thing that is a common topic of conversation and on social media ever increasingly is current national and global issues. I try to learn more about the issue as a whole, rather than approaching it with a preconceived opinion. I have found that I have experienced the most growth over the last year or so, and try to take an approach of learning rather than feeling I know the subject beforehand.

Recently, since COVID, I have found myself sometimes short of thoughts or discussion. As a result, I have recently started to focus on reading more books to help me gain knowledge in addition to my college education. I hope to find more book recommendations from peers or from others who share similiar interests and passions.

Below is a photo from a high mountain lakes backpacking trip that I took this summer with one of my friends. We were fortunate enough to experience during our 3 days in the backcountry 7 different lakes with only around 30 miles of hiking.
